No, A Bolt Win Isn’t an Upset

Usain Bolt is the greatest sprinter of all-time, and I was glad to see he still had it today. With that said, can we stop saying he “upset” Justin Gatlin. He didn’t upset anyone. Usain Bolt hasn’t been beaten in the 100 or 200 meter dashes on the track at a World or Olympic championship in his career. Yes, Gatlin was having a great season, and yes he had faster times, but are you kidding me right now? Bolt will remain the undisputed favorite until he’s beaten in a race he actually starts at the Worlds or Olympics. He definitely didn’t win an “upset.”
