Northampton County Republicans Need Another Candidate

Northampton County Republicans seem to have a strategic plan- don’t run where they’ll lose. After leaving the County Council seats blank for Easton and Bethlehem, and both cities council seat races as well, they also left the District Attorney’s race blank. The one thing they did fill on the ballot was to have Ron Angle get the necessary write-ins to run for Controller. They had that, and a judicial candidate, besides candidates in the county’s northern two council districts.

Now Angle is withdrawing too. Northampton County Republicans literally are now fielding two council candidates and a judicial candidate. Obviously this is all good strategy, as they are allowed to replace Angle, however it strikes me as unfair to the voters. People came out and voted for Ron to be their candidate by write-in, and now they will get someone else. Obviously the Republicans will want to fill the spot, since they can, and Ron has every right to back out of his race on personal grounds. It just feels like a “bait-and-switch” to me.
