Will Max Scherzer No-Hit the Phillies Tonight?

In Max Scherzer’s last two starts, he threw a one hitter and a no-hitter. He did that against Milwaukee and Pittsburgh, better offenses than the Phillies. In Milwaukee, he surrendered one hit and struck out 16, a game in which he walked one. Against the Pirates, he hit one batter, and surrendered nothing else. He is seeking to become the first pitcher since Cliff Lee in 2011 to throw three straight shutouts.

The Phillies have been hitting decently of late, scoring over thirty runs from Sunday through Tuesday, before struggling Wednesday. They are at or near the bottom in nearly every offensive category as a team, on the season. They have been nearly no-hit two or three times this season already.

The odds are stacked heavily against a second straight no-hitter for Scherzer. If it were going to happen, the Phillies would be the team to do it against this season.
