The Fair Housing Act Wins

Race isn’t just a factor when blatant racism exists. That’s what the Supreme Court said in ruling in favor of the Fair Housing Act’s current interpretation. The court found that HUD can take racial outcomes into their considerations on housing issues.

We have largely seen society segregated since the late 1960s, sometimes accidentally. The Fair Housing Act allows HUD to continue to remedy this. Had the court produced some sort of argument for “color-blindedness,” we would have seen more segregation, more separation, and a continual housing divide. The court wisely didn’t allow that.

It’s fair to say the last two days were great for progressive court watchers.
