I don’t know if last night will be the last time I ever see the Stones, or where I rank the show against the other tours I saw them on, but wow. What a great show. Mick’s voice sounded as young as i’ve heard it in 21 years since my first time seeing them. The band behind him didn’t miss a beat. The energy put out was amazing.

  • The stage was a bit more humble than say, on Voodoo Lounge. The catwalk went straight out into the crowd, and didn’t have the long runways to the sides. Simple was good though.
  • Not playing every night is a great idea. Mick’s voice sounded fresh. The band seemed into it. Keith Richards and Ronnie Woods were having a blast.
  • The song selection was older, which was also good. With no “new” studio album, they were free to get “Satisfaction,” “Paint it Black,” “You Can’t Always Get What You Want,” and other older songs in.
  • Wow, Heinz Field. What a beautiful stadium. The aesthetics of having Mount Washington behind the stage were pretty cool too. More on this later.
  • For my money, I can’t decide what my favorite song was. “Sympathy for the Devil” and “Gimme Shelter” are my favorites, but “You Can’t Always Get What You Want,” “Jumpin’ Jack Flash,” “Brown Sugar,” and “Satisfaction” were amazing too. I can’t pick a winner.

I’ll have more to say- as I process it. The experience was amazing.
